Yangcheng Evening News reporter Xue Renzheng and correspondent Guangdong Environmental Protection reported: Recently, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment issued the "Notice on Comprehensively Implementing Green, Low-carbon and Environmental Protection Concepts and Making All-out Efforts to Create a Beautiful National Games" (hereinafter referred to as the "Notice"), guiding the host city's ecological and environmental protection departments to do a good job in ensuring the environmental quality of the Guangdong competition area of the 15th National Games, comprehensively implement green, low-carbon and environmental protection concepts, promote the realization of the goals of green and low-carbon venues for the National Games, green and efficient event organization, clean and beautiful ecological environment, and green life for all people, and make all-out efforts to create a beautiful National Games.
In order to ensure the quality of the ecological environment during the National Games, the "Notice" requires that the quality of the ecological environment for the 15th National Games be strengthened from four aspects: protecting the beautiful blue sky, creating beautiful rivers and lakes, creating beautiful bays, and ensuring environmental safety. Guangdong will further deepen the joint prevention and control of air pollution to ensure that the air quality remains excellent during the Games; strengthen the protection of water quality in the core waters and drinking water source protection areas involved in the Games, and coordinate the construction of beautiful rivers and lakes and Wanli Greenway; strengthen the ecological environment governance of the sea areas involved in the Games, deepen the investigation and rectification of sewage outlets into the sea, and the supervision of the ecological environment of marine aquaculture; in terms of ensuring environmental safety, it will strengthen environmental safety during the Games, carry out safety hazard investigations in ecological and environmental related fields, and do a good job in monitoring and early warning of important rivers, drinking water sources, key bays, and environmental air quality, as well as emergency response to sudden environmental events.
In order to promote green, low-carbon and environmentally friendly games, the Notice proposes to carry out five major actions. The first is the green venue construction action, which promotes the design of new and renovated venues in accordance with the relevant green building evaluation standards, and promotes the organic integration of the 15th National Games venues with the urban landscape, urban environment, and natural ecology; the second is the green energy action, which promotes the use of new energy vehicles as the priority for vehicles to ensure the 15th National Games, the use of new energy machinery as the priority for non-road mobile machinery, and the use of green electricity as the priority for conventional electricity to ensure the venues; the third is the "zero waste national games" action, which advocates the implementation of garbage classification, the promotion of the "disk action" and green packaging, the reduction of the use of disposable plastic products, and the promotion of electronic registration, registration, guidance, manuals and other measures to reduce the generation of various types of solid waste during the game; the fourth is the carbon neutrality full-game action. Promote the establishment of a carbon emission management system for events, strengthen the carbon emission management and accounting of the entire process of events, and achieve the carbon neutrality goal by neutralizing the remaining carbon emissions of the events through carbon offset measures; the fifth is the green procurement action. The event will give priority to the purchase of environmentally labeled products, follow the green and low-carbon concept in the design, production, and sales of souvenirs around the 15th National Games, and carry out carbon label certification.
The "Notice" also mentioned that it will actively build a public participation platform for the Beautiful National Games, plan and organize a series of Beautiful National Games volunteer activities such as the Carbon Neutral National Games, the "Waste-Free National Games", and the Green National Games, guide citizens to practice green lifestyles such as green travel and green consumption, and create a good atmosphere for all people to participate in the Beautiful National Games.
